The Importance of Community Based Rotations
- According to the 2000 United States Census, almost half (33 out of 67) of all counties in Florida are rural.
- There are 29 rural hospitals in Florida.
- Rural hospitals and community clinics are often the only means of delivering quality health care to the residents of rural communities.
- Rural hospitals and community clinics often have trouble recruiting health professionals.
How Does This Affect You?
- As a health professions student, you will most likely rotate through a variety of different clinical training sites.
- Each rotation will offer unique training opportunities that can help you decide if a career in rural medicine is right for you!
